Welcome to The Village Oak Tree
I am your host, Terrance Ó Domhnaill.
This week, I have another chat with my dear friend, Mitch from Florida, once again. You can find him at Mitch@sacredkarailee.
We talk about how things are in Europe and Donald Trump's plan to take over Canada, Panama and Greenland will have an effect on us ordinary people.
After my commercial break, I will read you another chapter of The Priest, from Michael Campi.
So, come sit you down next to someplace warm and listen to me tell you some tales about the world outside.
Warning: There is some adult language in the video
My friend Mitch and I, whom you may remember from last year, have a lively and sometimes humorous conversation about the things that scare us the most these days.
We've talked about these things before but, with Trumps inauguration upon us next week, we're running a little scared of the future and what his already chaotic presidency may bring us over the next two to four years.
Come join us as we talk about the future, sometimes, with a little humor, our fears of, as he puts it, the new version of Hitler's infamous Brown Shirts, who may soon be visiting a neighborhood like yours. Knocking on doors, demanding to see residency papers.
We talk about the Trump rhetoric about the annexation of Canada, Greenland, the possible military invasion of Mexico and Panama, and what that might mean for us. What's going on in Europe right now and what that might mean for all of us.
Sometimes, the conversation veered into some personal things, such as our families, how they are managing all of this change and what their futures may look like.
The video is long but, as I watched it while editing, it seemed like the time went by quickly. So, come in and join the conversation with a reply or two to let us know if our fears resonate with yours and your family members. Are you worried about ICE or another division of Homeland Security coming to your neighborhood to put you or your neighbors in labor camps soon? Are you worried about Europe's economy failing and the EU collapsing? Are you worried about how climate change may affect you after watching the fires in Los Angeles?
We talk about these things and more. I invite you to join us in this national conversation and tell us what your fears are.
To give readers a taste of some of the conversations, I brought up a couple of news articles I had found a couple of days before we prerecorded this podcast to talk about because they do and will going forward, have direct impact on our lives here in the United States.
Mostly, we talked about the Ukrainians shutting off the oil to spite the Russians, but it only hurts the Europeans. We talked a bit about the Ukrainians attempting to blow up a oil pumping station that controls the flow of oil into the Turkish pipeline, which is the only pipeline left open to anywhere in Europe anymore.
I brought a couple of times, how I had read stories from Russia and Europe over the last few months about how the Americans and British are responsible for blowing up the Nordstream 2 pipeline back in September 2022.
Then we had a lengthy conversation about Trump and his deportation scares, the real possibility of labor camps, and uniformed ICE authorities going door to door around the country looking for illegal residents.
Then, there is the possible annexation of Canada and Greenland, a possible military invasion of Panama and Mexico and so much more.
I invite everyone to watch the video or listen to it to see if anything we are worried about resonates with you. if so, feel free to let us know in the comments. We think this should be a national conversation. Do we really want our government to be doing all of this instead of taking care of the people first?
With our infrastructure falling down around us, climate catastrophes happening more and more now, and civil unrest going on everywhere because the issues are not being taken care of to the people’s satisfaction, we need to make our voices heard in the state capitals and Washington D.C.
It’s past time our elected leaders were made to address our concerns in a meaningful manner. Instead, we see octogenarians reelected out of apathy in their districts or by the wealthy elitists for favors rendered.
Look at what that’s brought us? Politicians freezing up at podiums, falling on stairs, and obvious symptoms of dementia. We need better from these people but instead, we get idiots, grifters and convicted felons running our most important government institutions.
Once these people fail us again, we only have our collective selves to blame as we voted for them. I personally never voted for any of these idiots but I am only one vote.
Think about that as Trump swears in next week and the chaos officially begins.
Thank you for for watching the video or at least reading this newsletter. I hope you enjoyed it and that you will return again for more news and commentary about the world we live in.
Please like, subscribe, reply and share the videos or audio podcasts, however you watch or listen. The goal here is to resist the authoritarians who want to take our freedoms away from us. I appreciate everyone around the world, no matter who or where you are. Together, using independent media, we can resist the authoritarian oligarchs in the west.
As I say good bye this week, I wish to leave you with this Irish blessing as we go about our lives and try to stay warm in the meanwhile. "May the year bring us all peace and prosperity or at least enough of it to get us by for a time." Slán go fóill.
