Welcome to The Village Oak Tree Stories and Poetry
I am Terrance Ó Domhnaill, your village scéalaí, back with more stories and poems from authors around the world.
In this first show of the Celtic New Year, I have three stories and one poem for everyone.
I continue with The Grave Diggers of Orpheus chapter 11, plus two other space faring stories from Substack writers and a poem about the Fae in Bulgaria from a Medium writer.
Some more notes about this show as we head into the new year. Starting today, this show will now be found under The Village Oak Tree heading on any mobile podcasts. Crann na beatha Stories and Poetry as a standalone title is no more. I will leave the old episodes up until next July, then they will all be archived for good.
Something else I wish to add. I will only be posting one podcast a week from now on. I will read stories and poems every other week on Wednesdays instead of every week on Fridays. I have other projects I need to attend to this year and I need more of my time to pursue them. Thank you for understanding.
So gather round once more and let me read to you under the shade of the crann na beatha, the tree of life.
As I mentioned above, this is the start of my Celtic New Year and with the changing of the year, there are always changes. It keeps things from becoming stale.
This is the start of season three now and I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do and then, it became what I needed to do.
I have started the year with more offers for contract (gig) work which will take up a lot more of my time in the short term and I also need to devote more time this winter to finishing the revisions to my current book (at the request of my editor), Fugitives in a New United States, and finishing the draft manuscript to the other book I started a year ago.
Podcasting will have to take a back seat going forward. It was a fun year and I learned a lot but now it is time to move on to more pressing things. WAA Radio will likely be a little upset with my schedule change and drop me off their roster and that is okay. I am sure they will get along just fine without me.
I invite everyone to listen the stories and poem I selected this week. All of the stories are from Substack writers so use the links below to read them and let them know how much you like their work. I am sure they will appreciate the attention.
I am keeping this short this week as it is already late in the day on the second day of Samhain. I am supposed to be feasting and making merry with my family rather than writing this for you. I will be back on a couple of weeks. Sláinte
As I say good bye this week, I wish to leave you with this Irish blessing as you go about your day. "May the new year bring everyone blessings from the Gods and a prosperous and healthy year ahead." Slán go fóill.
