I finished all of my honey do chores for now and while I am waiting for my darling wife to return home, ( she is out shopping with her girlfriend) I thought I would write out my thoughts on this sunny Sunday afternoon after my midday repast.
As everyone knows by now, things are escalating in the middle east because the current Israeli government, with Netanyahu at its head, is foaming at the mouth to retaliate for last night’s little dustup from Iran. Biden has told them to stand down because Iran has stated before the U.N. council that they have satisfied their vendetta for Israel’s bombing of the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
Everyone but Israel is trying to head off an escalation of things in the middle east with good reason. But the Likud government does want to escalate things for their own personal reasons, according to a lot of knowledgeable people. I read some news reports and listened to an interview on YouTube this morning as I was working around the house.
This retired U.S. Army Colonel is apparently very popular on the independent news media circuit as he gives out a lot of interviews. Here is the one I listened to this morning.

Regardless of who you read or listen to, the outcome is becoming obvious. The United States is in deep trouble, both at home and abroad.
I replied to a post by another Substack writer, Caitlin Johnstone from Australia last night.
I write about this all the time as I spent most of my working life in war torn countries or bringing war to developing countries because the U.S. wanted something they had. Now the U.S. is starting to reap what they have sown around the world and within their own borders. I am a big believer in karma. After over four hundred years of brutal colonization within and without its borders, karma is coming back around now. I plan to keep fighting for those who still believe in a democracy until I can’t anymore, then I will be in survival mode protecting my family as best as I can. The world is not full of cute houses with white picket fences with peace and tranquility all around. Humans are brutal creatures as we are seeing constantly on the world’s stage right now. And that maybe coming to a neighborhood near you. Even if you live in the U.K or Europe.
I responded back later on when someone else made another comment with this.
The United States is slowly sinking into a sunset ocean of their own making, much like the ancient Roman empire. No matter how many bandages they apply now, they are only forestalling the inevitable. They are so divisive now, that certain think tanks are predicting that it won’t be too much long before they are embroiled in another violent civil war between the white conservatives and everyone else. Maybe after the fall elections when the democrats win again? Maybe after things simmer a little more before finally boiling over? But it won’t be too much longer before the MAGA cult decides on a open revolt, much like the dixiecrats in 1860.
Once that happens, the U.S. will lose whatever standing they have with the rest of the world. World economies will crash and burn. Another worldwide recession/depression like the 1930’s or likely worse., U.S. standing right now has taken a serious hit over their unwavering support of the Zionist genocide in Gaza.
The rich elitist rats already know what’s coming which is why there is such an uptick in rich Americans buying property in Europe and other places in order to buy a second or third passport. Insurance. Thom Hartmann reported on this a day or so ago. This is what having millions or billions of dollars at your disposal can buy you. The rats know the American ship’s hull is rotten and is slowly sinking into the ocean. They can afford to get off the ship before it sinks completely below the waves and take their ill-gotten money with them.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are at the mercy of a collapsing state. How many Americans are prepared for a violent civil war without standing armies shooting it out against one another on open battlefields like in the 1860's? This time, it will be neighbors shooting at one another. Mobs lynching people they don’t like. National Guard troops shooting protesters in some states. States like Texas and Florida closing up their borders and standing up their own state militias and so on.
Once the dust settles, there won’t be a recognizable United States anymore as the federal government will be in shambles, unable to quell the dissention amongst themselves. Congressmen and women taking sides and returning to their states to stand with their people. It’s not hard to imagine the once United States no longer being united anymore. Just a bunch of warring states fighting for their idea of what life should look like. It will be very messy, much like when Rome failed and all of their conquered territories decided to go their own way. Even attacking the seats of government. Imagine a large militia made up of organized MAGA people marching on Washington D.C. with little opposition as the National Guard troops leave their posts to join the crowd. Sacking and burning the white house and maybe even Capitol Hill. Hanging or shooting anyone they don’t like.
I paint a dystopian picture but it isn’t too hard to imagine this becoming a reality within the next five to ten years given the level of unrest in the U.S. right now.
The price of ammunition has gone up dramatically in the last few years and will likely keep going up as different factions prepare for war. People are hoarding bullets now as they don’t go bad in dry storage. You just can’t buy in large bulk amounts as that sets of FISA alarms and the feds will be paying you a visit. I buy in small amounts over time to stay under the radar.
If you are a nonviolent person, gun hater, or belong to a demographic that both sides take issue with, such as LGBTQ or trans people, you better start saving up about a half million dollars to buy that second passport to a safer country. If you are born with a naturally dark skin tone, you might want to be thinking of finding another country soon. The richest ones already are.
As I watch the news today through various sources, it is becoming abundantly clear. The United States is on its way out. As this retired Colonel Wilkinson said in his interview above, the United States back in 2008 or so found itself in a unique position to be the world’s largest hegemony and took advantage of that to make the rich richer. It worked until now.
As the colonel said in response to another question, the other powers are pushing back even more now by making their own coalitions without the United States, further isolating the U.S. from world politics.
China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, and some other less developed countries are coming together and pushing the U.S. out. This latest wrinkle in American political history of pledging unrestricted support for Israel’s right to defend itself because of deliberate misinformation by the Israeli government is coming back to haunt them now.
As I said in last week’s The Village Oak Tree podcast, it’s too little, too late to try and rein in Israel now. That Pandora’s box was opened last October and it’s too late to close it now. The Djinn is out and it does not want to go back in the box.
The United States has had multiple failings since WWII, when, in the immediate aftermath of the war, they found themselves in a position of being one of the largest world leaders of that time, along with England and Russia, with the French a close second. They quickly figured out how to become the top dog when they realized that the world now looked up to them for being the most instrumental in stopping the Axis powers.
Of course, being in the limelight for helping set up and execute the Marshall Plan over Europe right after the war helped the marketing narrative that the U.S. were the good guys and they were only too happy to perpetuate that myth. Especially since they needed support for their new war on Communism, starting with the Russians and Stalin.
I have one story from my childhood that I want to relate that is somewhat related to this article. I remembered this as I was contemplating writing this today.
It’s a story about just how arrogant white Americans have been since the early 1950’s and still are towards the rest of the world in their belief that they are the greatest nation on the earth.
In 1960, I was four years old when we moved to Drux, France, not far from Paris. My late Da was in the American Air Force and his unit had been deployed to replace an Air National Guard unit from Mississippi because these white boys were allowed to run around town off duty and they decided that, because they were Americans, that no one, anywhere, could tell them what they could or couldn’t do.
So, they proceeded to cause mayhem around the local area in France by exhibiting extreme prejudicial acts to French black citizens, short of lynchings, up to the point where the French government told the American government that these soldiers were no longer welcome in France.
Now remember, this was before the civil rights acts were passed in 1964 and so on. Not that any of that would have made any difference to those white boys from Mississippi ever. They have that same attitude now fifty years later. Just look at the MAGA cult.
My Da was stationed in France for three years from 1960 to 1963. I never experienced any prejudicial behavior but I was four when we arrived and seven when we returned to the United States. I experienced a lot more prejudice in the U.S. than I ever encountered in Europe in all of my travels. The British being the exceptions. I went to the DOD school there when I started the first grade and we lived in government provided quarters so I was insulated from any of that anyway.
My late mother told me some stories when I was an adult after I had returned from one of my deployments that painted a different picture of French attitudes of the United States and its people. It wasn’t very good and still isn’t. They are just a lot more polite about it when Americans are around.
In the 1950’s and beyond, the European survivors of the Nazi’s described the Americans as just another version of the Nazis. The same arrogant attitudes and same empirical designs on the world, only with a big American Howdy and a big smile.
Look at the United States fifty years later. They are coming apart by the seams over religious and political ideology. Largely brought on by the unfettered capitalistic culture they engineered after WWII. The divide between the haves and have-nots is getting wider every month now.
The cultural divide is not between the rural people and the urban peoples but brought on by the rich capitalists taking all of their money and livelihoods and leaving misinformation in their wake. Most of the rural MAGA supporters aren’t exactly sure why they are mad but if you did a deep dive on them, you would find out that they are really just mad because their way of life has changed for the worse in the last forty years and they want that back.
Enter Joe Biden. He inherited a train wreck of an economy and sort of brought it back from the brink but at great political cost. Not that he personally cares about that too much but he doesn’t want to leave a mess for his replacement. A democrat replacement.
Then there is the dysfunctional republican party. I won’t delve into that too much here except to say that if they regain a super majority in the government somehow, the United States is dead. It will be unrecognizable after four years or more.
As Thom Hartmann pointed out in one of his shows last week, the richest rats are leaving this sinking ship, the U.S.S. United States. The richest Americans are buying up real estate overseas in safer countries and purchasing second or even third passports as insurance against the failing United States. If you have at least $500,000, you too can buy a passport from Portugal, Malta, or Spain. Or maybe somewhere else where Americans aren’t viewed as threats or bad neighbors. Those places are becoming fewer and far between anymore as the arrogant rich Americans are finding the European welcome mats being withdrawn in more and more countries around the world. Even in Mexico.
Gringos no es Bienvenido
Americans have brought all of this upon themselves and only have themselves to blame for all of this chaos across the world, which they largely instigated with all of their maneuverings to become the one and only superpower in the world. Look at what happened to the last superpower in world history with this much arrogance? Although the Roman Empire lasted a whole lot longer that the still relatively shiny new penny called the United States, compared to nearly any other country in Europe.
I leave everyone with these last thoughts as you head into another grinding work week ahead. Who are you working for? Do you feel as if you are working to take care of your family or are you part of the arrogance that imbues American culture around the world?
For those just wanting change in order to have financial stability to provide for your family, you might want to consider forgetting about your government to help you out. They aren’t coming. Especially the MAGA republicans.
The democrats are just as bad in their own way. Except for Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, they are pretty much just running around crying the sky is falling and not doing much to stop it.
If you are one of the arrogant rich American elites, you better pack your bags soon. Since you can afford it, you should start house shopping in a still friendly country before you can’t anymore. And check your American attitudes at customs when you arrive.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and the week ahead. I know, your job probably sucks, but I like to leave on a positive note. Sláinte

Thank you for sharing your perspective on the American condition. I find it rather bleak, and while I don’t disagree that the USA, the only home country I’ve known, is in a peril - dangerously close to losing it’s democracy, I don’t agree that the current trajectory leads only to that end. The future is not written for any country and I have faith in the humanity of Americans. I have hope that we will fight against authoritarianism and protect democracy, independence, equality, fairness, and freedom. However your words of warning do encourage me to do my best to prepare for what the future may hold if we fail. Hope and fight for the best, prepare for the worst.
